A North Lanarkshire charity has secured an unrestricted grant totalling £40,000 from Bank Of Scotland Foundation’s funding program, Energise’. ‌

Founded in 2015 by Moira Ireland and her daughter Heather Stephens, Ponies Help Children (PHC) is a family-run charity based at Blairmains Farm near Harthill. ‌

It rescues ponies with histories of neglect or abuse, nurturing them and pairing them with children who have experienced similar hardships of healing, connections and growth. ‌

Instead of riding, children build bonds through grooming and lead work in a carefully matched pony partnership. Sessions are customised (typically over seven to eight weeks) to foster trust, emotional connection, resilience, and overall well-being.
