A state electoral commission has raced to reverse an issue with their postal voting system which saw dozens of voters receive incorrect voting packages for upcoming local government elections.
Some Western Australian voters received ballots which had been sent to the incorrect ward or district, while others received ballots which were incomplete, or featured printing errors obfuscating key information ahead of the October 13 local government elections.
It follows a horror State election which culminated in an independent inquiry into the West Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC), and staffing changes in the body’s executive branch.
The WAEC sends postal ballots to those who will not be able to vote in person on election day.
