Sundargarh: At least five people were killed and several others grievously injured in a collision between a bus and a truck on National Hghway-520 in K Balang area of Odisha’s Sundargrh district on Thursday.

As per preliminary information, the mishap took place near K Balanga Police Station under Koida block in the district when a private bus from Rourkela to Koida collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. ADVERTISEMENT

While five people reportedly died on the spot, over 15 others sustained grievous injuries. The critically injured persons were immediately rushed to the K Balang Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.

The toll may increase as several passengers were feared trapped inside the mangled bus and the rescue operation was still underway.
