Hisar mountaineer Narendra Kumar summits Mt Manaslu, hoists Tricolour at –40°C; sets sights on all 14 eight‑thousanders

Chandigarh/Hisar, September 25, 2025: Narendra Kumar, a mountaineer from Mingni Khera village in Hisar’s Nalwa segment, has summited Mount Manaslu (8,163 m), the world’s eighth‑highest peak, unfurling the Indian Tricolour at 6 am on September 22 amid severe weather and avalanche risk. He began his Manaslu push on September 7 and completed the expedition in 15 days, braving temperatures that dipped to –40°C.

Kumar started his mountaineering journey with a basic course at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, in 2019, followed by an advanced course at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling, in 2021. He cr
