India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad this weekend, warning of very heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday. The city has already exceeded its average September rainfall, with more downpours expected through the festive weekend.

Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, heavy rain with gusty winds 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts North Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.
