ABINGDON, Va. — From the clang of a blacksmith’s hammer to the cooking of brine over an open fire, a Living History Weekend will return to the area for the third year, offering visitors a connection to the past.
The Civil War era event will feature reenactors, demonstrations and authentic camp life.
Hosted by the Fairview Farm & Homestead Foundation, the historical celebration is open to the public from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Fairview Farm on Hillman Highway in Abingdon.
Students from local schools have been invited to participate in the activities on Friday, with as many as 85 students from Meadowview Elementary expected to attend.
