Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season certainly featured some surprises.
Whether it was a major upset (like Cleveland taking down a hyped-up Green Bay Packers team), a litany of critical blocked field goals or 30+ point blowouts (of which there were three), we never knew what was going to happen next during a chaotic NFL Sunday.
Week 4 has the potential to be just as good with a handful of massive early-season matchups. Games between the Eagles and Buccaneers, the Colts and the Rams and the Chiefs and the Ravens stand out as September matchups that could prove to have major playoff implications down the road.
Our panel of NFL experts is back to give you their picks against the spread ahead of all the action in Week 4.
Name | Week 3 Record | 2025 Record |
Prince Grimes | 5-10-1 | 21-25-2 |
Charles Curtis | 5-10-1 | 20-26-2 |
Cory Woodroof | 6-9-1 | 20-26-2 |
Robert Zeglinski | 5-10-1 | 22-24-2 |
Christian D'Andrea | 7-8-1 | 18-28-2 |
Tyler Nettuno | 8-7-1 | 29-17-2 |
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals (Thursday Night Football)
Opening Line: Cardinals -2.5
Grimes: Seahawks -1.5
Couldn't be more unimpressed with Arizona's offense.
Curtis: Seahawks -1.5
I don't love what I'm seeing out of the Cards right now.
Woodroof: Cardinals +1.5. I still believe in Arizona.
Zeglinski: Seahawks -1.5
Until Marvin Harrison Jr. starts playing like a former top-five pick, I can't, in good conscience, pick the Cardinals. Seattle has one of the league's best defenses right now and I feel so bad for Kyler Murray.
D'Andrea: Seahawks -1.5
Seattle's defense is swarming and Sam Darnold is playing like an elite quarterback.
Nettuno: Seahawks -1.5
Seattle looks really good, and Arizona has been a bit shaky, even against lesser opponents.
Minnesota Vikings at Pittsburgh Steelers
Opening Line: Vikings -1.5
Grimes: Steelers +2.5
Not backing Carson Wentz against Pittsburgh, even if it's a diminished Pittsburgh.
Curtis: Vikings -2.5
Backing Carson Wentz? Meh. But it's the Vikes' defense that will step up here.
Woodroof: Steelers +2.5
The Steelers defense will prevail.
Zeglinski: Vikings -2.5
Aaron Rodgers in 2025 against Brian Flores' exotic, unpredictable defense? Uh, PHEW.
D'Andrea: Vikings -2.5
I originally leaned Steelers until I remembered their quarterback is a statue and now facing the most blitz-happy coordinator in the NFL.
Nettuno: Vikings -2.5
Yeah this seems like it's going to be a rough afternoon for one Aaron Rodgers.
Los Angeles Chargers at New York Giants
Opening Line: Chargers -3.5
Grimes: Chargers -6.5
Sure, Russ is out. I still don't trust the Giants to scheme up a close game with a rookie QB against these Chargers.
Curtis: Chargers -6.5
I'm SO happy the Giants are starting Jaxson Dart. But I don't see him doing much against that Chargers defense.
Woodroof: Chargers -6.5
Herbie!
Zeglinski: Chargers -6.5
Poor Jaxson Dart. The Chargers are about to turn the rookie into a fine paste in his first "Welcome to the NFL" moment.
D'Andrea: Chargers -6.5
Jaxson Dart vs. one of the league's best two-high safety attacks. Good luck, brother.
Nettuno: Chargers -6.5
Absolutely brutal first NFL start for Jaxson Dart.
Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots
Opening Line: Patriots -3.5
Grimes: Patriots -5.5
The Panthers are showing life, but New England should take care of business at home.
Curtis: Patriots -5.5
The Pats have been OK, but the Panthers have been worse. It's that simple.
Woodroof: Panthers +5.5. That Panthers defense is legit.
Zeglinski: Panthers +5.5
Drake Maye has quietly been one of the NFL's most efficient quarterbacks but the otherwise woeful Patriots haven't earned the benefit of the doubt to pick outright. I don't like Carolina to win but I do like it to cover.
D'Andrea: Patriots -5.5
New England isn't gonna put the ball on the turf four times this week. Right? RIGHT???
Nettuno: Panthers +5.5
Carolina looks at least a bit better than what we thought it was after Week 1, and I just don't trust New England.
Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Opening Line: Eagles -2.5
Grimes: Eagles -3.5
Tough game but I'll take the Eagles with a late cover.
Curtis: Buccaneers +3.5
The Eagles will win, but bet on the Bucs' offense keeping this one close.
Woodroof: Eagles -3.5
Philly is rolling.
Zeglinski: Buccaneers +3.5
Eventually, the Eagles' offense will get a much-needed wake-up call. Why not against one of the NFC's best teams on the road?
D'Andrea: Bucs +3.5
Tampa Bay cannot have a normal game and, apparently, neither can the Eagles. Three points sounds right in either direction.
Nettuno: Buccaneers +3.5
Philly feels vulnerable despite its 3-0 start, and this may be the team that's good enough to finally hand the Eagles an L.
Washington Commanders at Atlanta Falcons
Opening Line: Commanders -3.5
Grimes: Commanders -1.5
And that's whether Daniels plays or not.
Curtis: Commanders -1.5
Let's assume Jayden Daniels is healthy. If so, he's the X-factor.
Woodroof: Commanders -1.5
Falcons don't have an offense right now.
Zeglinski: Falcons +1.5
Is this dangerous after watching Michael Penix Jr. struggle to hit the broad side of the barn last week? Yes. Does Jayden Daniels' health still scare me? Also yes.
D'Andrea: Falcons +1.5
Atlanta can figure its stuff out at home. Maybe. Probably not.
Nettuno: Commanders -1.5
I trust Washington more, even if Jayden Daniels doesn't suit up.
Cleveland Browns at Detroit Lions
Opening Line: Lions -10.5
Grimes: Lions -9
The Lions won't fall for the ol' traparoo at home.
Curtis: Browns +9
This feels like a trap. The Browns have played some close games, so I'll take the points.
Woodroof: Browns +9
Cleveland will keep this relatively close with defense... which means it will be a low-scoring game.
Zeglinski: Lions -9
Detroit lost both coordinators in the offseason but is showing that cohesive, overwhelming talent can still win out in the end. The Lions are about to go on a run because they believe in Dan Campbell first and foremost.
D'Andrea: Lions -9
Detroit's offensive line has taken a step back, but it's still considerably better than a Packers one missing 40 percent of its starters.
Nettuno: Browns +9
I guess I'll bank on us getting the Browns team that just upset Green Bay. This certainly will not backfire.
Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
Opening Line: Texans -6.5
Grimes: Texans -7
Houston is a touchdown better on paper… I think.
Curtis: Texans -7
Still waiting for that Cam Ward breakout game.
Woodroof: Texans -7
Houston will figure it out... right?
Zeglinski: Texans -7
I worry about C.J. Stroud but hoo boy Cam Ward against a DeMeco Ryans defense is just asking for trouble. It's time for winless Houston to get a big win.
D'Andrea: Texans -7
If Houston doesn't win this game it may as well pack up for the year.
Nettuno: Texans -7
Houston has a lot of flaws, but not as many as the Titans. This should be win No. 1, and I'm not sure it will be close.
New Orleans Saints at Buffalo Bills
Opening Line: Bills -12.5
Grimes: Bills -16.5
It's not Buffalo in the winter, but it'll still be a tough road atmosphere for a really bad Saints team.
Curtis: Saints +16.5
This screams backdoor cover to me.
Woodroof: Saints +16.5
This will be closer.
Zeglinski: Bills -16.5
New Orleans is the NFL's worst team. Josh Allen might not have to play the second half of this one. Next.
D'Andrea: Saints +16.5
The Bills couldn't cover a smaller spread at home against Miami. New Orleans is worse, but not *that* much worse. Buffalo by 14. But also the Jets lost by 20 so... man I dunno, this is too much math.
Nettuno: Saints +16.5
I have no faith in New Orleans, but I can't in good conscience lay this many points, even on the AFC's best team.
Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Rams
Opening Line: Rams -6.5
Grimes: Colts +3.5
Might've take the Indy moneyline. They're rolling.
Curtis: Colts +3.5
We keep doubting the Colts, but they keep playing well.
Woodroof: Rams -3.5
I like L.A. here.
Zeglinski: Rams -3.5
I'm starting to think the Colts are for real but the Rams are gonna be in a BAD mood after choking away a win against the Eagles.
D'Andrea: Colts +3.5
I dunno man, I guess I just want to believe in something.
Nettuno: Rams -3.5
This may be the moment the Colts and Daniel Jones come crashing down to Earth, at least a bit.
Jacksonville Jaguars at San Francisco 49ers
Opening Line: 49ers -5.5
Grimes: 49ers -3
Tough cross-country game for the Jags, who aren't great to begin with.
Curtis: 49ers -3
Would love to see more out of the Jags before putting my faith in them.
Woodroof: 49ers -3
Sure?
Zeglinski: 49ers -3
Do the Jaguars deserve more respect against a ragtag 49ers team? Perhaps, but I won't be the one giving it to them.
D'Andrea: 49ers -3
Mac Jones is proof *you*, dear reader, could win a game as starting quarterback under Kyle Shanahan.
Nettuno: 49ers -3
Jacksonville is a much-improved team from a year ago, but it has some issues that make it hard to pick in this one.
Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs
Opening Line: Chiefs -1.5
Grimes: Ravens -2.5
The Chiefs are mid and the Ravens desperately need a bounce back game.
Curtis: Ravens -2.5
One team is going to leave this stadium 1-3. Who'd have thought?
Woodroof: Ravens -2.5
1-3 Chiefs?!
Zeglinski: Ravens -2.5
Lamar against Mahomes with the loser falling to 1-3? HOO BOY what a September matchup.
D'Andrea: Chiefs +2.5
A game destined to come down to a field goal featuring two longtime AFC contenders whose kicking situations have flipped from "brilliant" to "dire" recently. I don't care who wins as long as the ending is stupid.
Nettuno: Chiefs +2.5
I can't believe the loser here is going to be 1-3. Neither will be lacking in motivation, but I guess I'll take Kansas City at home.
Chicago Bears at Las Vegas Raiders
Opening Line: Bears -1.5
Grimes: Raiders
The Raiders are better than we've seen so far.
Curtis: Bears -1
Might be a shootout, so I'll say Caleb Williams continues to sling the rock.
Woodroof: Raiders +1
Geno will get it going.
Zeglinski: Bears -1
Tom Brady's possible subterfuge aside, the Raiders present enough of a cupcake defense for Caleb Williams to continue building on his NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
D'Andrea: Raiders +1
Yeah I'm not buying Chicago as road favorites after one game.
Nettuno: Bears -1
If Caleb Williams can keep playing like he did Saturday, Ben Johnson could salvage some success in Year 1.
Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys (Sunday Night Football)
Opening Line: Packers -2.5
Grimes: Packers -7
Micah Parsons is gonna wreak havoc.
Curtis: Packers -7
The Cowboys defense is SO BAD.
Woodroof: Packers -7
Green Bay will rebound.
Zeglinski: Packers -7
Call them the 'allas Cowboys because they've got no D. (taps drum)
D'Andrea: Packers -7
My prediction? Pain.
Nettuno: Packers -7
Green Bay should bounce back nicely in this one.
New York Jets at Miami Dolphins (Monday Night Football)
Opening Line: Dolphins -5.5
Grimes: Dolphins -2.5
Nothing good to say about this game.
Curtis: Jets +2.5
If Justin Fields is back, this seems like a perfect spot for the Jets to cover.
Woodroof: Dolphins -2.5
The Dolphins aren't this bad... right?
Zeglinski: Dolphins -2.5
Desperate Miami is way overdue for a win and the Jets are the perfect first victim.
D'Andrea: Jets +2.5
Miami has the league's worst pass defense. It may not matter who is behind center for New York.
Nettuno: Jets +2.5
Miami played admirably in its loss to Buffalo, but I think it takes another tough division loss here.
Cincinnati Bengals at Denver Broncos (Monday Night Football)
Opening Line: Broncos -2.5
Grimes: Broncos -7.5
How many interceptions will Jake Browning throw in this one?
Curtis: Broncos -7.5
Bo Nix breakout game coming.
Woodroof: Broncos -7.5
Sorry, Bengals.
Zeglinski: Broncos -7.5
I shudder to think of what Jake Browning will look like on the road against Denver's defense if the Bengals dare fall behind at any point. It could get biblical.
D'Andrea: Broncos -7.5
Oh, Jake Browning didn't like the Vikings defense? I'm afraid I have some bad news.
Nettuno: Bengals +7.5
This is a tough matchup for Jake Browning, but I'm not overly impressed with Denver. I think Cincy can at least keep it close.
