POUGHKEEPSIE – A proposal by a handful of area state lawmakers for the creation of a Hudson Valley Power Authority to take over Central Hudson as a government-run utility has been met head-on by an alliance of business, labor, and construction leaders along with Central Hudson leadership.

The Protect Our Power Coalition says it would be disastrous if the government were to take over the role of the utility.

Central Hudson President Stephanie Raymond says delivery of energy should be rooted in technical rigor, safety and service, not driven by political agencies.
