New Delhi: The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) wants Sheikh Hasina’s party, the Bangladesh Awami League (AL), to participate in the next round of national polls scheduled for February 2026. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stressed AL should fight for votes in a free and fair election.

“For saying this, many people are insulting me—calling me an agent of India, a stooge of the Awami League. But why should we repeat Sheikh Hasina’s misdeeds?” Alamgir told the Ei Samay newspaper.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has asserted in the same interview that there is no reason to doubt the elections will be in February next year and that there will be no unrest at the time. Show Full Article
