Chikumbutso Pawlenty (29) and Keta Bika (18) are in police custody in Ntcheu District for allegedly being found in possession of twelve 20-litre drums of petrol without a permit.

Ntcheu Police spokesperson, Jacob Khembo, confirmed the incident.

Khembo explained that the two were riding a motorbike yesterday on their way to Kambilonjo with the petrol when members of the public stopped them and alerted police, who rushed to the scene.

Officers seized the fuel and arrested the suspects. They are expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to illegal possession and transportation of fuel.

Police in the district have commended members of the public for their continued vigilance and support in preventing crime.
