Vacations with a big family can be tricky. But a vacation with my husband and our kids — three teenagers (17, 16, and 13) and a 20-year-old — plus my 78-year-old mother? That felt nearly impossible. How do you take two Gen Xers, a Boomer, three Gen Zers and a Gen Alpha, and find something they can all handle, not to mention enjoy? I’d wanted to take a multigenerational vacation for years, but I kept putting it off, telling myself that everyone’s schedules were too packed, everyone’s preferences too different. Add in the fact that my mom doesn’t move as quickly as she used to (sorry, Mom), and I figured such a trip would be one of the many things I dreamed about but never actually got around to.
