KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A bicyclist died after being hit by a pickup truck Wednesday night in a hit-and-run crash in northeast Kansas City, according to Kansas City police.
The crash was reported just after 9 p.m. Wednesday at Independence and Hardesty avenues.
According to a crash summary from the Kansas City Police Department, a bicyclist was traveling east on Independence Avenue and then went into the westbound lane at the intersection.
A person driving a white pickup truck that was traveling west on Independence Avenue hit the bicyclist head-on and left the scene, police said.
Paramedics were called, and the bicyclist was pronounced dead shortly afterward. The victim's name has not yet been released.
