Conservation efforts are helping, but the Town of Torbay is still down nearly eight feet of water from its reservoir.

The town posted to social media earlier this week, warning of extremely low water levels, fueled by a lack of snow in winter and a dry spring and summer.

Mayor Craig Scott says the levels are the lowest on record since the 1960s.

He says they’re now looking at “all options” in getting water to residents.

“The staff are monitoring it. We’ve contacted our engineering company to look at potential mitigation factors where we could do something to draw down more than normal because our pond is gravity fed,” he told VOCM News.

He’s asking residents to continue to follow the water conservation order, which bans washing cars, filling swimming pools and watering lawns.
