A Daviess County Jail employee has been suspended following the death of an inmate.

An investigation began on August 20 when 28-year-old Dalton Gordon was found unresponsive in his holding cell.

The medical emergency was reported, and life-saving measures were performed.

Officials determined Gordon died in his sleep of multi-drug intoxication.

Jail employees are supposed to conduct surveillance checks on inmates.

Officials say apparent signs of life were not documented by staff in the hours leading up to Gordon’s death.
