LEADVILLE, Colo. (KKTV) - A Leadville man was charged in connection with a deadly road rage shooting.

According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Lake County deputies responded Tuesday at 10 p.m. to a report of a shooting at the 13200 block of US Highway 24.

Deputies arrived and found a man who had been fatally shot, later identified as Landon Lavelle Mentink, 40, of Leadville.

Robert Price Chase, 31, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting.

Investigators believe the two men were involved in an apparent road rage incident that escalated when the suspect allegedly shot the victim.

Chase made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon, where his bond was set at $100,000. His next court appearance is set for Oct.16 at 2 p.m.
