ATLANTA — Gov. Brian Kemp announced Thursday morning that the government has approved an extension for the Georgia Pathways Medicaid expansion program.
The extension begins October 1 of this year and will run through December 31, 2026, a release by the governor's office said.
The release says Pathways has extended coverage to more than 15,000 people since its implementation. The program notably includes a work requirement for able-bodied adults to enroll with Medicaid, unlike the majority of states that offered expanded Medicaid coverage to all eligible adults under Obamacare.
Georgia is one of 10 states that never expanded coverage to all eligible adults under former President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law. Gov. Kemp's alternative for expansion, with the work requirement incl
