The latest episode of South Park took aim at Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr in the wake of the short-lived ousting of comedian Jimmy Kimmel last week, an event Carr helped facilitate. It sparked right-wing fury online, with many commenters suggesting the episode could lead to real-world violence.

“This is the same garbage rhetoric that got Charlie Kirk killed!” wrote X user “Armitas,” a self-described “Christian conservative” with close to 2,000 followers, including Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), in response to the episode. “What are you thinking????”

The online right has grown increasingly hostile to the animated sitcom’s 27th season for skewering the Trump administration, with hostilities having increased in the wake of Kirk’s killing earlier this month. Some in the MAGA movement have proclaimed the show’s creators have “blood on their hands,” pointing to a recent episode that mocked Kirk, and one that Kirk himself embraced.

In the latest episode, which aired late Wednesday, Carr is depicted as falling ill after becoming the unintentional target of Trump’s schemes to abort his child with Satan, and ends up in the hospital where he’s told he may lose his “freedom of speech,” a clear dig at his real-life threats to those critical of the Trump administration.

The online right, however, not only repeated its past criticisms of the show, but doubled down on the notion that it presents a real-world threat to Trump officials and those in the MAGA sphere.

“Who are you trying to get murdered next?” wrote X user “Derek D,” who frequently shares MAGA-aligned content, has amassed close to 1,000 followers and describes themselves as holding “conservative views.”

Others took to the more common criticisms, accusing the show’s creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, as having become “total sellouts.”

“You guys used to roast Family Guy but at least they have the balls to mock both sides,”
