HARRISON, MI — A Clare County man is in hot water after allegedly calling in a bomb threat in an attempt to implicate others.

At 6:36 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, Zachery S. Combs called 911 to report two people had left a suitcase near his residence in the 1900 block of Jill Janet Street in Hayes Township. Combs said the suitcase contained an explosive device, deputies alleged.

Deputies went to the scene and found a suitcase in Combs’ yard, near his mailbox. Deputies and Harrison Community firefighters erected a perimeter around the residence and notified the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad.

While awaiting the bomb squad’s arrival, deputies interviewed neighbors and obtained surveillance camera footage showing Combs setting the suitcase in his yard, deputies alleged.
