MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - The Mahoning Valley OVI Task Force will be conducting an OVI checkpoint somewhere in Mahoning County the night of Friday, September 26.
More specific details on the checkpoint including the time and location will be revealed shortly before the checkpoint begins.
The checkpoint will be accompanied by saturation patrols from various law enforcement agencies throughout Mahoning County in order to keep impaired drivers off the roadway.
A 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires that drivers be notified before sobriety checkpoints are conducted to avoid violating constitutional protections against illegal search and seizure. The ruling did not specify what constitutes adequate notification.
