Australian mum Emma Mason led an emotional ceremony in New York attended by high-level European leaders, urging them to ban children from social media, to protect children from online bullying and suicide material that she says contributed to her 15-year-old daughter’s death.

Ms Mason recounted the harrowing circumstances before her Tilly’s death from suicide, prompting European leaders to hail Australia’s social media ban.

Her address at a high-powered event on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly was organised by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and attended by the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis,
