GREEN VALLEY, Ill. – A Tazewell County Sheriff’s deputy was injured after a crash early Thursday morning in rural Green Valley.

The sheriff’s office says the deputy’s vehicle was parked southbound along Illinois Route 29 with its emergency lights on just before 5:45 A.M.

That’s when a northbound pickup truck pulling an animal trailer collided with the patrol vehicle.

The deputy suffered minor injuries and was taken to Carle Health Hospital in Pekin, while the truck driver and animals inside the trailer were uninjured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by Illinois State Police.
