NEW HARTFORD, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- A serious accident in the town of New Hartford on Wednesday night left one person injured and one person arrested by New Hartford Police.

Officers were called to Burrstone Road for a one-vehicle accident at approximately 8 pm on Wednesday, September 24. Upon arrival, officers found one person -- later identified as 46-year-old Alexis Torres of Utica -- in the car involved in the accident.

Further investigation found that Torres was traveling westbound on Burrstone Road when he struck a curb at the intersection with French Road. Torres' vehicle then crossed into the eastbound lane and into the nearby Cliff's Local Market. During the incident, the vehicle collided with a group of picnic tables, a guide wire, and a utility pole.
