The finalization of this year's property tax bills in New Castle County will have to wait for the resolution of a lawsuit filed by business-interests challenging lawmakers' efforts to blunt increases to residential tax bills.
A Chancery Court judge overseeing the case approved a scheduling order on Sept. 25 that puts on hold the county's aim to issue supplemental bills by mid-October. The lawsuit could ultimately lead to taxpayers being told to pay bills previously issued earlier this summer depending on how the judge rules.
