DANE COUNTY, Wis. — Stipulate soon or face legal action — that's the message to beagle breeder Ridglan Farms from the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
DATCP met with the embattled Dane County beagle breeder Monday, where a spokesperson said a proposed civil forfeiture was discussed, and no agreement was reached.
“Ridglan Farms has until this Friday, September 26, to consider stipulating to the civil forfeiture. If they do not, the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) will refer the case to the Dane County District Attorney to consider prosecuting,” the spokesperson said.
“The meeting was very short,” Eric McLeod, legal counsel for Ridglan Farms, said.
This comes after DATCP hit Ridglan Farms with 311 violations and a $55,000 pena
