The RCMP says one person is dead following a collision in southern Alberta.

It happened around 8:08 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, at the intersection of Highways 1 and 36 northwest of Brooks.

The investigation shows that a semi-truck was travelling northbound on Highway 36 when a westbound Chevrolet Equinox collided with it.

The semi also struck three additional vehicles, causing minor damage, before coming to a stop in a ditch.

RCMP says the driver of the Chevrolet, a 62-year-old man from Calgary, was taken to hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Officers are continuing to investigate.
