A man from Calgary has died following a multi-vehicle collision near Brooks earlier this week.

RCMP say shortly after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 36 for reports of a incident involving multiple vehicles.

An initial investigation shows that a semi was travelling northbound on Highway 36 and went through the intersection onto Highway 1, where it collided with a 2020 black Chevrolet Equinox driving west.

Police say the semi also hit three other vehicles, causing minor damage, before stopped in the ditch on the west side of Highway 36.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 62-year-old man from Calgary, was taken to a local hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

The semi driver suffered minor injuries.
