A 62-year-old man from Calgary died after being taken to hospital

One person is dead after a multi-vehicle crash northeast of Brooks, Alta., on Tuesday morning.

Brooks RCMP were called to a collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 36.

Early reports indicate a semi-truck was northbound on Highway 36 and proceeded through the intersection onto Highway 1, where it collided with a westbound 2020 black Chevrolet Equinox.

The semi also struck three additional vehicles, causing minor damage, before coming to a stop in the west ditch of Highway 36.

The driver of the Equinox, a 62-year-old man from Calgary, was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.

The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries.
