OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Hundreds of students from Duchesne Academy spent the day assembling baby layettes -- backpacks filled with diapers, onesies, blankets, and other essentials -- for new moms in need.
The project, organized in partnership with the Christ Child Society of Omaha, is the largest service effort the nonprofit has coordinated with the school to date.
“These bags provide hope, love, and courage to a mom that might not have that as she prepares to welcome a baby,” said Shannon Henrick from the Christ Child Society.
Students moved through assembly lines packed with thousands of baby items — thermometers, nail clippers, hooded towels, sleep sacks, pacifiers, and handmade blankets.
