BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A 14-year-old from Brewer is facing charges after leading police on a chase in Bangor Wednesday morning.

The Bangor Police Department says an officer attempted to stop a reportedly stolen vehicle on Main Street, but the vehicle fled after briefly coming to a stop.

Police say the officer pursued the vehicle which crashed into a decorative rock pillar at a business on Hammond Street during the pursuit.

They say the vehicle finally came to a stop near the intersection of Buck Street and Webster Ave, where the teen driver was taken into custody.

The teenager is currently charged with refusing to stop for law enforcement, aggravated criminal mischief, driving to endanger, refusal to submit to arrest, and unauthorized use of property.
