A Dollar General in New Orleans' 7th Ward neighborhood has closed.
On Thursday, the store at 2001 St. Bernard Ave. was locked and a notice of the location's closure was taped to the front of the discount store.
"We have a longstanding history in New Orleans, having opened our first DG in the city more than 40 years ago," the notice read. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and remain committed to serving customers at our additional locations within the city."
The notice did not say why the store had shuttered.
Last year, the Nashville-based chain closed five stores in New Orleans East after it reached a deal with federal regulator to implement safety protocols and pay $12 million in penalties over allegations the company put low-wage employees in danger.
