AUSTIN, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The season opener for 'archery-only' white-tailed deer hunting begins on Saturday with reports by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for plenty of hunting opportunities.
The opening of the "archery-only season" looks to begin strong for white-tailed deer hunters before general hunting opens later in November. This, despite drought conditions starting the growing season, said officials.
"Much of the state received abundant rainfall later in the spring. The vegetation growth from these rains boosted antler development and allowed does to pack on reserves for fawning and lactation, and those regions should expect an excellent season," said officials with the TPWD.
