HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - A message sent to parents and guardians of students at Castle High School says a student has been detained and a weapon is currently in the possession of law enforcement.
According to the message, several students notified the administration that a student had a weapon in their backpack at the school. Despite law enforcement detaining the student and recovering the weapon, officials with the school said it did not appear that the student intended to harm any staff or students.
Sheriff Mike Wilder says the student is in custody, and there is no current threat to the school.
Officials with the school say they plan to release more information as it becomes available.
This is a developing story.
