The attorneys for the family of Jabari Peoples dismissed the Rule 27 petition filed against the city of Homewood on Thursday.
The legal team requested the dismissal after viewing the bodycam video sent to Judge Elisabeth French by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency . French granted the dismissal.
The legal team for Peoples' family requested that French obtain and preserve the evidence from the night he died.
Attorney Leroy Maxwell told WVTM 13 previously that the petition is less about the content of the video. It's about making sure all the video is available to them in the future. For example, it would be used if a wrongful death lawsuit is filed, which the family has said they are considering
