Ethan Hawke, star of “The Lowdown,” made a Wednesday appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to promote the new series.

After a clip was shown, Kimmel made reference to “The Lowdown” being set in Tulsa, Oklahoma — “where we are not on the air tonight.”

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” returned to the airwaves Tuesday following Kimmel’s brief suspension, but ABC stations owned by Sinclair Broadcasting Group are not airing the talk show. KTUL channel 8 in Tulsa is owned and operated by Sinclair.

So, said Kimmel to Hawke when the setting of “The Lowdown” was being discussed, “Tulsa gets a shout-out that they cannot hear.”
