A Michigan City man was sentenced Tuesday to 54 years in prison for child porn.
Neil Lachmund, 46, pleaded guilty in May in U.S. District Court in South Bend, Indiana, to sexual exploitation of children, production of child pornography and production and transportation of obscene material for sale or distribution.
In a statement, Acting U.S. Attorney M. Scott Proctor wrote that Lachmund was a former law enforcement officer, but didn’t specify the agency.
A La Porte County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said via email they had “No knowledge of such, and subsequently no internal investigations related to such as well.” A LinkedIn page with Lachmund’s name indicates he was a deputy starting in 2008 and a former Marine Corps linguist.
