LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to air Tuesday night. It came a week after the host had been suspended for comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s death.
The comments by the ABC late night host created tensions between the entertainment industry and the Trump Administration.
During an address to the Rotary Club of Louisville, Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) spoke about the First Amendment and the government’s power over it.
“We need to be careful not to have the government in charge of our speech... Period,” McConnell said. “We’re gonna hear some speeches we don’t like, and it also means that some of these deranged people are gonna be a problem. But a worse problem would be having the government trying to decide who gets to speak and who doesn’t.”
