Three-term state Sen. Dan Innis, R-Bradford, ended his U.S. Senate campaign and endorsed former Sen. John E. Sununu, calling him the only Republican with “unquestionable conservative credentials” likely to run for that seat.

Despite declaring two months ago that he was ready to move on from the State House, Innis, 63, now said he intends to seek his Distroct 7 Senate seat next fall.

“I entered this race earlier this summer because there was no real conservative running. Chris Pappas would be a disaster for our state, and I believe that only a true Republican with unquestionable conservative credentials can defeat him next November,” Innis said in a statement he posted on social media.
