SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) — Happy Thursday, Utah! We are seeing plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures across northern Utah Thursday afternoon. High temperatures will likely warm above average into the low to mid 80s.

Meanwhile, clouds are on the increase for southern Utah as an area of low pressure approaching from the west brings increasing showers and storms to Southwest Utah through Thursday night.

The storms that do develop could produce heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and small hail. Portions of Southwest Utah will be under a "marginal" risk for both a few strong to severe storms and the possibility of flash flooding.

Friday will feature a bit of drier air for the valleys, but afternoon pop-up storms should once again develop for portions of the Utah mountains Frid
