LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton says the victim of a recent shooting on Winburn Drive has been identified as Stephon Vanzan t , a city employee with the Division of Waste Management.

In a Facebook post Thursday, Mayor Gorton said she spoke with Vanzant’s mother and offered her prayers for his recovery. She said the family agreed to allow his name to be shared publicly to update the community.

According to the mayor, Vanzant has worked as a laborer for the Division of Waste Management since August. He was seriously injured in the shooting on Sept. 18.

Lexington police say 20-year-old Jon’Tay Mattingly was arrested in connection with the shooting.
