CROWN POINT — A judge issued a sentence of five years to a man who participated in a 2023 robbery turned shooting that left a 26-year-old man dead.

Larry Saunders, 20, was sentenced to five years on a robbery charge and three years on an assisting a criminal charge. The sentences are to be served concurrently, per the plea agreement. One of the years will be served in a work release program, and the last year will be served on probation.

Saunders had a firearm Jan. 28, 2023, while inside the One Stop Convenience Shop in Gary, where he and co-defendant Melvion Delphie, 23, robbed victim Alexander Hudson.
