ATLANTA — On Wednesday, the prosecution rested its case in trial against Julian Conley, the man accused of murdering 8-year-old Secoriea Turner in Atlanta back in 2020.

After more than a week of testimony , the jury was dismissed for the day as the defense prepared to present its case. Conley faces several charges, including felony murder, in connection with Turner’s death.

Prosecutors said Turner was riding in a car with her mother on the night of July 4, 2020, when the vehicle tried to pass through a makeshift barricade at the intersection of University Avenue and Pryor Street in southwest Atlanta. That area had become a flashpoint during the protests following the police killing of Rayshard Brooks , which had occurred nearby weeks earlier.
