COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — A College Park Police sergeant is facing several charges following a chase that resulted in a deadly crash in August, according to warrants.

Records show Donnie Smith was arrested on Sept. 23 on the charges of homicide by vehicle, hit and run, failure to report an accident, violation of oath by a public officer and reckless driving. The deadly crash happened on August 17 near I-285 and Riverdale Road.

Clayton County arrest warrants accuse Smith failing to report or stop and render aid at the scene of a deadly crash that he was allegedly involved in. Smith is accused of chasing a 2009 Land Rover in a Ford Explorer police SUV, "in a reckless manner having no regard for the safety of the public."

Some of the speeds during the chase were over 100 miles per hour.
