ST. PAUL — The Department of Justice announced on Thursday, Sept. 25, that it is suing Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon over his refusal to hand over voter rolls.

In a news release Thursday, the DOJ said Minnesota is one of six states to be sued over the same refusal to turn in voter rolls — California, Michigan, New York, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania are also being sued.

“Clean voter rolls are the foundation of free and fair elections,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi, said in the release. “Every state has a responsibility to ensure that voter registration records are accurate, accessible, and secure — states that don’t fulfill that obligation will see this Department of Justice in court.”
