The Canadian Barley Research Coalition is extending its funding support for the University of Saskatchewan’s Crop Development Centre.

The CBRC is extending its core breeding agreement, providing $1.8 million over three years.

The funding will help researchers develop new barley varieties that feature improved agronomics, disease resistance and end-use quality.

CBRC Chair Cody Glenn (SaskBarley) says renewing this investment ensures Western Canadian farmers can expect new barley varieties from a world-class program, keeping barley competitive with improved yield and agronomic benefits.
