A traveling veterinarian accused of sexually abusing a Lauderdale County child also threatened to have her mother murdered. That’s according to investigative files and court documents released in the arrest of 52-year-old Gregory Ford.

Ford, authorities say, is an equine veterinarian who provides services to farms throughout the United States.

On Sept. 3, a detective with Florida’s Marion County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of sexual battery allegations originally reported to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama.

Recently filed court documents show the mother of the victim made the report to the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office back in August after she found sexually explicit texts between her daughter and Ford.
