MARICOPA, AZ (AZFamily) — The City of Maricopa and the United States Postal Service (USPS) have reached a new agreement that will enable mail services at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center (MLCC) to continue operating.
The agreement does come with some changes due to the change in the city’s compensation model.
In previous years, the city collected a percentage of revenue from the sale of stamps and prepaid packages, which averaged $30,000–$40,000 annually.
Under the new contract, that revenue will no longer go to the city, and instead, USPS will pay the city a flat annual fee of $100.
The city stated that this was the only option presented by USPS. Still, they determined that the community benefit outweighs the financial impact and that maintaining the post office was the best
