Mentoring youth has become a paying opportunity in Nunavut now that the Safe Savvy Kids Foundation is offering scholarships to cover training and $1,500 per workshop to program graduates, says mentorship program founder Tristan Howell.

The new non-profit organization is accepting applications until Sept. 30 from anyone over age 18 who can pass a vulnerable persons background check and wants to mentor youth in Nunavut.

Successful applicants will undergo a four-week training course paid for by Safe Savvy Kids Foundation and will create workshops to deliver between January and March.

Six mentors were certified last year and they organized workshops for Safe Savvy Kids Foundation, said Howell.
