(FOX40.COM) — The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed the death of an incarcerated person at California State Prison, Solano, on Wednesday morning was a homicide.

At 7:40 a.m. in the Facility B recreation yard, Prison staff responded to two incarcerated persons, Christian M. Dumas, 24, and Stephen J. Archer II, 38, attacking another incarcerated person, Brenten G. Kinzenbaw, 27. After using chemical agents to quell the attack and immediately restraining Dumas and Archer, life-saving measures on Kinzenbaw were initiated.

Kinzenbaw was transported to the institution's triage and treatment area, where he was pronounced dead at 8:15 a.m. by prison medical staff. No other incarcerated person or staff was injured in the incident. Officers recovered an improvised w
