STOCKTON, Ill. — The Chicago Bears picked a Jo Daviess County man as their latest honoree.

The Bears named head coach Sean Downey of Stockton High School as the fourth High School Coach of the Week for 2025. As part of the award, the Bears will donate $2,000 to the Stockton Blackhawks football program.

Coach Downey took over at Stockton in 2023 and reshaped its culture. He brought a new coaching staff, discipline, and energy to the team. Players said he and his staff inspired the belief in a group that now plays with confidence.

In his second year, the Blackhawks finished 7-4, their first winning record since the 2019-20 season. This year, the team has risen to the level of Northwest Upstate Illini Conference title contenders.
