On Thursday at 4:32 p.m. an updated severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 4:45 p.m. for Lancaster and York counties.

Residents should prepare for wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

"At 4:32 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Hallam, moving east at 40 mph," says the weather service. "Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees."

Locations impacted by the warning include Lancaster, York, Columbia, Millersville, Mount Joy, Spry, East Petersburg, East York, Stonybrook-Wilshire, Salunga-Landisville, Maytown and Tyler Run-Queens Gate. This includes Interstate 83 from mile markers 15 to 19.

According to the weather service, "Stay inside a well built structure and keep away from windows."
